Why I Love My Pastor #77

I appreciate Pastor Kevin because he is a very good leader and lives a very exemplary life. Each and every week when I attend the Wednesday evening service I am always blessed with life-changing wisdom. I truly believe that the spirit of God is with him. I'm very thankful to God for giving me the ability of being a part of our church. I appreciate the advice he has given me in times of need. I'm thankful for Kevin's active involvement in the lives of many of the people in the youth group.
- Jheison

Why I Love My Pastor #76

Ron is a great pastor. He is inspiring, down to earth, practical and funny. When I started going to our church last year, he was the first reason why I continued going. To think this man could keep my sinful self interested in learning about Jesus Christ is a miracle. He's truly working wonders.

Why I Love My Pastor #75

Pastor Matt has the real heart of service. He shows concern to all church members, and gives encouragement, He is a truly a blessing. --Sharie

Why I Love My Pastor #74

Pastor Jeff is an encouraging man with a pastor's heart. Building relationships with people in his congregation is important to him. Although the church is growing a lot, he gives individual attention to people to help get them connected into the church. He treats each person like they're important and not just another number.
- Bethany

Why I Love My Pastor #73

My pastor has been the most influential person in my life. He's been the person I could go to with anything. He's been someone who listened, comforted and helped, but also cautioned and disciplined when required. God has truly blessed this man and I pray that God will bless him in the years to come. -Warren.

Why I Love My Pastor #72

Pastor James is a wonderful pastor who is committed to the shepherding of his people and most importantly he is committed to the reformed faith and the word of God. One trait that he has that which is very encouraging is his desire for change and how he is very open to suggestions from the congregation. He has a great heart for his congregation and is very hospitable. -Jaime

Why I love My Pastor #71

I really appreciate Pastor Josh because he has given his whole life to serve God and our church. Every Sunday he preaches three times a day and during the week he is ministering to people one-on-one as well as doing countless other things. His sermons are always grounded in the Bible and it is clear that he puts in a lot of preparation for his preaching. He is awesome and the entire congregation is really
blessed to have him as our pastor! -Susan

Why I Love My Pastor #70

I appreciate pastor Mike, for the heart God has placed in him. As I have gotten to develop a friendship through time, he’s been such an encouragement to my walk with God and been a blessing in my life. His passion to reach the unsaved college students is breath taking and challenges me each day at my college campus to shine my light, like a city on a hill. These characteristics I have learn through our friendship, are why I can say I look up to him as a mentor more than he ever knows and how he lives his life being a man of God with integrity. First, he lives a life with God at the center and the college kids needs first, above his. Second, he is a faithful father to his family and dedicated to directing kids closer in their walk with God. Third, he lets his actions speak louder than his words and takes time out of his week to spend with people in the college group. If there is one verse I can say that fits best how he lives his life is Psalm 86:11!

Why I Love My Pastor #69

He has pastored here for 11 years. In the church, he has labored especially in the areas of family life and young people growing up with high moral standards in their lives. The young people's attitudes in the church have changed a lot through his teaching and the opportunities for service that he has introduced.

Working for the Lord here is not at all easy. People have absolutely no interest, and yet, David continues to regularly write leaflets which are distributed to about 4,000 homes in the area, a number of times a year, in the hope that a spark of interest may lead to some coming to the church or contacting us to find out more. I appreciate my pastor in so many ways, even more than the average church member, because he is also my precious husband, of 27 years. -Colette

Why I Love My Pastor #68

Pastor Daniel thinks about us, the church, even on his day off. He cares about us by always leaving his cell phone on and never ceases to call you right back. He feeds us physically and spiritually and serves us by creating no boundaries, no barriers, no arrogance and has given his life completely to fulfilling the Great Commission. We know he loves his church because he prays for it frequently and firmly
believes in the awesome things God will be doing in it. -Karen

Why I Love My Pastor #67

There are so many things that I could say about what makes him such a great pastor: his love for the Word, his teachings, his kindness, his prayers, his passion, his jokes, his hugs. But there are a few things that have really stood out that have made all the difference. He never seems too busy to talk to anyone. He always makes newcomers feel comfortable & welcome. And it is clear to see that he truly believes that all the people of the congregation are his extended family.

He often talks about and reflects on the lyrics we have just sung, and he incoporates them into the message. This is a man who is really meditating on what God wants to show us. This is a man who is such big and strong guy in stature, with a voice of authority, and yet has a such a gentle and soft nature at the same time. It makes me think that is what Jesus must have been like. -Christina

Why I Love My Pastor #66

I would just like to state that I truly believe our Pastor is a God gifted man, who seeks the Kingdom for every decision made. He is a true blessing to my family and me. He loves everyone in the congregation and speaks from his heart. I look up to him and his family and I thank God for them. They are loving, caring Christians. I pray God richly blesses them. GOD BLESS YOU GUYS!!! I Love you. -Angela

Why I Love My Pastor #65

I appreciate Pastor David because he is a man of prayer and the Bible is the ruler stick which provides his standard. He is obedient to the Holy Spirit, even if there is something already planned for the day. With all of the responsibilities in the church, he manages a full-time job, a family, attends community meetings and participates in community functions, coordinates our annual drives ie: "Boxes of Love", opens his home to all who need it, takes prayer walks in the community and will not turn anyone away if they need to talk. Most of all, I appreciate my Pastor because he shows love and compassion even when I want to walk away. -Michele

Why I Love My Pastor #64

Pastor Greg is one of my best friends in the world. Since the first day I walked through the doors of my church, he put an arm around me and offered to be more than just a preacher. He really took interest in me and invested in my life. I asked him once why he did that and his answer was simply, "Because you have something special to give back to this world, and I know that you will invest in others." Thanks to his guidance and teaching and mentoring, I am now accepting my calling to the ministry and trying to give him a return on his investment. -Anthony

Why I Love My Pastor #63

Pastor Charlie is a great blessing for our church. He is the answer to our long time prayer to have a pastor who can shepherd us and feed us with the word of GOD. Even he is a stranger to our city but he accepted the calling of GOD for his life. He has always the time listen and give counsel for those who need it. He has a great desire to disciple us and learn more and know more Jesus Christ in a deeper way. -Chona Liza

Why I Love My Pastor #62

I appreciate Pastor Craig because his desire is to see the lost come to faith. I appreciate him because of his high view of God, the scriptures, and of his family. The flock which he oversees is growing and his ability to speak into my life exhorting scripture at several junctions has been extremely helpful. He is a man who lives a life worthy of the Gospel and does not bring reproach upon Christ's church and for that he deserves double honor. - Justin

Why I Love My Pastor #61

Pastor Henry and His wife, Lydia have been such a blessing for me and my family. They are truly dedicated for the house of the Lord, I learn a lot about sacrifice and faithfulness to the Lord from them. They taught me so much about prayer, dependence to the Lord and not to them, caring ministries and so much more. I just want you to know that I highly respect both of you, and love you. - Yatti

Why I Love My Pastor #60

The first memory I have of Pastor Chris is of him serving - helping our family unload the Uhaul truck when we moved to the area. This example truly exemplifies his ministry in our church and community. Pastor Chris is a great preacher and is able to articulately present and challenge us with the word of God from the pulpit every week. Not only am I blessed to hear him preach every week, but it has been an encouragement to have him as our teacher in the college class. His excitement and passion about the word of God is contagious. In addition to shepherding a fairly large church, Pastor Chris takes the time to be the local police department's chaplain and many other community outreaches. Pastor truly lives out the verse Galatians 5:24b "but by love serve one another". -Julia

Why I Love My Pastor #59

Pastor Hayes is an amazing man of God. When he preaches, it is amazing how God uses him to speak right to us. He is an awesome example of a leader. There have been times when I was down and he has encouraged me so much. He not only talks the talk but he also walks the walk. I am truly blessed to have a pastor like him because he has helped me grow so much in my walk and I know that he has made a difference in other people's lives as well. -Sidney

Why I Love My Pastor #58

My pastor, Wayne, has faithfully ministered to our body of believers over the last 20 years. I appreciate so very much his commitment to preach the Word, and nothing but the Word. I am also so thankful for his commitment to our church in all the other ways he ministers to us. Pastor Wayne’s complete dedication, sacrificing his own wants and needs to serve us, doing all the little things “they never taught you in Bible college” has not only ministered to me, it has been a wonderful example to me of what it means to be a wholehearted disciple of Christ. I pray that I may be as faithful as he has been to answer and continue to follow the call of Christ. And above all, I am thankful that God has given him to me as my father. I love you, Daddy. -April

Why I Love My Pastor #57

I really appreciate my pastor because it doesn't matter who the person is, what they've done, or anything, he's always so willing to take time out to pray for others, and to put himself last. He's so awesome in following what God wants, and he had just come back from Nicaragua when God called him, and he never used to think of himself to be a missionary type. He lives such an awesome life focused totally on our awesome God, and makes an awesome pastor, parent and friend to allot of us. He's a great listener and understanding person too. -Jenn

Why I Love My Pastor #56

As a pastor, I have been encouraged and taught by my fellow pastor Kendall. He has faithfully taught God's Word to the church even when the truth was not appreciated or well received. He has shown me that contentment for a pastor is not a result of the people's response, but of our fellowship with the Lord. That is one reason I appreciate him. -Eric

Why I Love My Pastor #55

I love my pastor because he loves Jesus and he wants others to love Him too. He lives his life in a generous and unselfish way. He tries to hear God for us (through the Word and by the Holy Spirit) and communicate clearly what he hears. He also is a loving husband and father to his wife and three kids. I thank God for Pastor Barry.
-Tom

Why I Love My Pastor #54

Pastor Dustin started pastoring to about 10 folks, already in the twilight of their lives, about 5 years ago. He envisioned God moving in people's lives in a powerful way; moving in the lives of these few folks, their families, the surrounding community, and the city at large. As Dustin always says, the local church is the hope of the world. It is both a place to minister to the needs of the body of Christ and to reach out into the community of irreligious people all around us. Our church is growing by leaps and bounds. Last week, God spoke to over 250 folks at the two morning services. Dustin has incredible vision for how God can work in the lives of those who are coming. More ministry programs are being added to equip this growing community as we step out in faith to bring others to Christ and to minister to one another. It is such an exciting time to be involved and to witness first hand the incredible things God does when we submit ourselves completely to him and the work he has for us to do. Dustin, with his incredible self-effacing and humble manner, epitomizes this submission in all that he does, while igniting others to do the same. God is moving and I am so excited to see where he is taking us as a body of believers, led by an fantastic pastor, as we desire God's will for our lives as individuals and as a corporate body. -Kerry

Why I Love My Pastor #53

Pastor Graham grew up in American, attending churches with 1000's of people. But 15 years ago he felt a calling to come to Australia to a church of about 150 which has now grown to about 600. Its not about the numbers its about being faithful to God's calling for our lives, and my Pastor has done exactly that. Putting aside personal dreams to serving Jesus and it is a wonderful example to me down-under in Australia. I appreciate his heart which beats for Christ. I'm inspired by the words which he speaks on Sunday and lives all week. I'm touched by his affection and kindness for not only his kids but the all the children on God. And I'm a more mature Christian because of the individual time he has generously spared for me. Thank you Jesus for your faithful servant Graham. -David

Why I Love My Pastor #52

My church recently went through a rather traumatic split. About half of the members did not really like the direction the church was going, so they left. However, in all this there was one voice that stood up. Our Education Minister, Carter, stepped up and filled the shoes of Senior Pastor. He is a magnificent shepherd, and would do anything for anybody. -Tyler

Why I Love My Pastor #51

I appreciate so many things that my pastor does and is. He is humble man and doesn’t boast in who he is. (Because he realizes it is by the grace of God). He is extremely wise and he has memorized many scripture passages so that he can be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within him. (1 Peter 1:15) He has a heart that longs to please the LORD and to do what is right. He has a wonderful giving and hospitable nature to him. He has a wonderful wife and has raised a wonderful family. He has a great burden for the lost around him. He has a wonderful ability to work with disabled people and with youth. He preaches the Word of God to the church that he has been placed in, every Sunday faithfully. Whenever you would like to meet with him he makes time for you. He is constantly in prayer for and with his church. He challenges people to live out their faith in the way that God meant them to. His joy for the LORD has been a blessing not only to me, but the entire congregation. - Cory

Why I Love My Pastor #50

Pastor Rick has been my pastor (and boss - I serve as Administrative Assistant) for more than three years. We know that GOD sent him and his wife to our church. Pastor Rick is very much a "people person", and cares about each individual that makes up our church body. To him, we're not just a number; he "knows his sheep by name", and is intentional about remembering names. He strives to be the same, real, down-to-earth person both in and out of the pulpit. And he's not "above" anything; he'll help wherever he's needed at the moment. One of the things I most appreciate about Pastor Rick is that he encourages me to ask soul-searching, self-evaluating questions. Pastor Rick loves us too much to not push us to grow and to follow God's plan for our lives. I thank God for him and Virginia, and pray for them regularly.—Laurel

Why I Love My Pastor #49

Pastor Henry is like a father/brother for us, the international students/people in Canada. He keeps his trust in all the church members and he always has that strong faith that though we're young, but we're going to soar like an eagle. All his words and prayers have supported many of the church members. He is always full of smiles and never once we ever seen him looking down. He is a true warrior. He is the nicest man that you ever have known, he's full of energy to serve the Lord and he never grows tired. He has touched not only my heart, but also many of the church members. He has a big dream of becoming a blessing to all the nations. In all, he's a father, a role model, an eagle and a warrior. - Jilly

Why I Love My Pastor #48

What I admire about our pastor is that he gets himself personally related with us. What really makes all his messages effective is, everything he says is visible in his way of life. Every encouragement he gives to the congregation are things he applies and has applied in his home. Pastor Joel's home is my second home, I can say that this family man is a man of God. His obedience to the Lord has blessed my life and my family as well. To sum it up, pastor Joel lives the Bible! I praise and glorify my Savior Jesus for a pastor like pastor Joel.

Why I Love My Pastor #47

My pastor helped save our marriage. My wife and I had been struggling with some serious relationship issues and we were ready to quit. He encouraged us to forgive as we have been forgiven and he led us through a Biblical study that changed our marriage forever. Thanks Pastor Brandon. - Brad

Why I Love My Pastor #46

I love my "Pastor Dad" because the man I see preaching God's word in the pulpit on Sunday is the same man I see on weekdays...Studying, laughing, struggling, praying! I'm glad Pastor Gregory is my pastor and my father! - Katharine

Why I Love My Pastor #45

Pastor David is a wonderful example of a shepherd of God's people. One thing I appreciate is how seriously he takes Scripture. "Study to show yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the Word of truth" (2 Tim 2:15). David labors constantly in study, carefully examining the text he will preach (and commentaries, books) so that he will be built up to be more like Christ and guide the body accordingly. Secondly, David is not afraid of discipline towards those under his care. He is careful to humbly correct those in error. Also, David is a good leader. He takes decisive action along with his leadership team and is not afraid to be guided by Scripture as opposed to guided by men. Yet, he is also responsive to learning and growing in his calling from the input of Scripture-driven advice. Finally, David is a good friend. Though he doesn't shy away from hard Biblical truths in preaching, he is warm and approachable (and he'll probably make you laugh by his sagacious humor, too).

Why I Love My Pastor #44

Bro. Jimmy- You are always there to support me and anything we do as a youth group. You have also recently shown me your support for my friends and your deep desire for our church. I thank you for your passion and commitment. I hope this book can help you with your vision for our church and turn our fellowship into a true love relationship with God. Thank you for all the support and help you have given me and will continue to give me in all the efforts of the youth of our church. -Josh

Why I Love My Pastor #43

For twenty years now, I’ve attended the same church with the same wonderful pastor: my father! It has been such a blessing to watch my father pour his time into the lives of others. The sacrifice’s he makes to minister to others and the joy he has in serving is amazing. Through all the ups and downs, especially the times of “persecution”, he has kept a positive, cheerful attitude trusting God to work everything out. I respect him greatly, not only as my father but also as a “man after God’s own heart”! ~ Esther

Why I Love My Pastor #42

Pastor Charles works very hard to shepherd his congregation by the word of God. He is there when members are in need and he works to train us to be there for each other as brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. He strives to walk in the steps of Jesus Christ, he is available no matter who you are if you need a ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. He is not judgmental except by the Word of God. His sermons are for the love of us to be used to help us grow in the grace and the knowledge of God. No matter whether we are age 9 or 90 he knows our name and family. He also listens to our concerns and helps up in our daily walk. - Helen

My pastor is also my father. Ed has pastored for almost 15 years and he is committed to PREACH THE WORD. From what I have read about this book it describes our pastor to a tee! I have been under his teaching and his leadership for 26 years, and I have learned so much about God's will for my life, and I firmly think this book will encourage him to keep on keeping on. - Caleb

Nigel is Gods man for today. When you speak with him you feel & know that you have his full attention. His pastoral heart is a shining example to others. He is clearly anointed for the role of preaching and fulfilling his role as Lead Pastor. -Glenn

Why I Love My Pastor #39

Pastor Hong is a wonderful dude who really loves God and his sheep! He always goes the extra mile to help one of his sheep. One time, I had a problem with our family computer and urgently needed it fixed. Pastor Hong being a formal engineer, stayed at my house till 1 in the morning to fix it for us. My family was so thankful for his willingness to go the extra mile. I work with him a lot because I'm a student leader and it's very obvious that his heart is for our youth. He is truly a man of God. - Julia

Why I Love My Pastor #38

Pastor Ron speaks with a passion and clear vision that is hard to find. He is such a wonderful teacher and friend and we are blessed to have him as our pastor. Here's to Ron! - Jennifer

Why I Love My Pastor #37

My pastor is a great leader and a fun person. He doesn't expect us to put him on a pedestal but he is very deserving of the respect that a pastor should get. I appreciate everything he does and I'm glad to have him as my pastor. - Jennifer

Why I Love My Pastor #36

Dr. Welch is dedicated in serving the Lord every day of the week and never compromises the Truth. He continually looks toward fulfilling what God has called our church to do. Dr. Welch desires to equip all who desire with the knowledge and
understanding that is required in a Post Modern society. His service to the Lord extends outside of our community across the World where I had the privilege of serving with him and others in Africa. - Bobby

Why I Love My Pastor #35

Our church is an elder-led body, so we do not have a pastor. However, we have 3 Godly elders who work overtime to balance their families, careers, and church responsibilities. One of these men, Bill, is my father, so I have seen firsthand the pressures as well as blessings of spiritual leadership. Dad is extremely patient and loving toward those in our body who need counsel, and is committed to working toward God's best in our church as a whole and in the lives of the individuals who make it up. On top of all this, he is also an incredible husband and father who ministers to many as a family physician. I love you, Dad, may God bless you for your faithfulness! - Faith

Why I Love My Pastor #34

My pastor Stanley has been used by God in an awesome way, and will continue to be used because of his steadfast obedience. God has made his faith strong through trials within our church and also through his wife's bouts with cancer. He has withstood many personal attacks because of his boldness in proclaiming the gospel and standing up for his convictions. He doesn't let anyone look down on him because he is young and has no college education, but fearlessly walks with God everyday and lives out his undying faith. - Jordan

Why I Love My Pastor #33

I love my pastor - Pastor Mark because he cares about people, and loves God, and therefore cares about helping other people to love God. He has encouraged me to get involved with the church, and has opened his home to me, something which he is not at all required to do, but has been a real comfort. I hope Josh Harris' new book will help Pastor Mark in his vision for our church and for working for the kingdom.
-Arden

Why I Love My Pastor #32

Among many other reasons, I appreciate Pastor Tommy for all the passion he has for the body of Christ and that he expresses it with action -- he faithfully serves and invests his gifts into the local church and teaches the body to do the same. He's a man that leads by example and for that I'm thankful. I also appreciate his desire to know God and for our youth group to be a place where young people can come and nourish their desire to know Him too. Thanks Pastor Tommy. - Stephanie

Why I Love My Pastor #31

Pastor Doug is a man of God, a visionary and is relentless in his pursuit of God's plan. Pastoring a new and up-coming church, a 150+ youth group, and still a good husband and father, one can say that he is truly "a man after God's own heart." His sacrifice and toughness through trial are an inspiration to many. His faithfulness and conviction that sticks out when others are sitting down and his optimism is a strength to those who work with him. Doug has never settled for what was comfortable, despite the temptation. He is definitely loved by his church and youth group! -James

Why I Love My Pastor #30

Why I love Pastor Carlton. Mainly it's because of his humility and passion to see people get to know and grow in Jesus rather than his own success. He is one of the pastors of a really large church, but it's not what he does on Sunday that blesses and inspires me, but what he does 24 - 7, arranging tent crusades, train missions and this he does not as Pastor Carlton but as Carlton, no titles, no one even knows. He remembers peoples names and things you've spoken about, his house is open to all to pop in any time & one of his main passions, is Youth, and he goes all out to see them reach their dreams and established in the purposes of God - He also says it keeps him young :) He is a great hero in the faith and an example to young and old of what it really means to live what we preach! - Chandre

Why I Love My Pastor #29

My pastor is the best in the world--I am biased I know, because he is my father. In his eighteen years as the senior pastor of two churches, Pastor Paul has been a bulwark of strength and wisdom for thousands of people. His teaching is Biblical, practical, and excellent. The other pastors have teased him because he memorizes all of his sermons. They insisted it was amazing how he could fit the entire sermon onto the 3x5 index cards he used for quotes. Now as I study at school, I have a standard to which I hold all other speakers, and I am even more grateful for the wonderful teaching I had the priviledge to grow up hearing. ~Natalie

Pastor Steve rocks There is nothing really more i can say God used him majorly to change my life and many others. Thanks steve. - John

The pastor of my church is also my Father, He has been an inspiration and a role model to me in my life. You see, My father came to this small church as a Musicitionary. Musicitionary just means that he uses music in his ministry. But now my Father is the full time asst. Pastor of this church. He has given up allot in this ministry. -Autumn

Why I Love My Pastor #27

Eric is a blessing to our fellowship. God has given him special talents with technical and graphic skills that make an eternal impact. He maintains our fellowships website and has set up interactive message boards, and online directory, and other resources that connect our fellowship with over 500 students. He has a servants heart and is dedicated to Christ and helping others. He is a role model and mentor to many, including myself. -Dan

Why I Love My Pastor #26

To begin, what I appreciate about pastor Robert is that he exemplifies godliness in his relationships with his flock. What is so admirable about Pastor Robert is that he is a very humble and personable man of God. He exhibits overwhelming patience, compassion, gentleness, kindness, and care with all people. Observing how he relates to people with meekness, respect, and encouragement is a priceless lesson for me.

Second, I appreciate so much how Pastor Robert has allowed me to experiment, grow, and make mistakes as a servant within the church. He is very supportive of innovative ideas and trusting of individuals' God-given talents. As a result, I have experienced some of the greatest spiritual growth of my life.

Last, I appreciate the love that he openly exhibits toward his wife of twenty-plus years. It is delightful to see him vocalize his affection for his bride and model the character and example that a Godly man should exhibit towards her. It is a pleasure to know Pastor Robert and an awesome experience to have served under him.
-Steven

Why I Love My Pastor #25

Pastor Randy is the most influential, amazing man of God in my life. He is an awesome listener and has become a spiritual father to me. He gives spiritually sound godly counsel to us all and is genuinely a shepherd over the flock God has entrusted to him.

Westminster Seminary Bookstore Review

Here's an encouraing plug "Stop Dating the Church" got from the staff at Westminster Seminary Bookstore:

"Stop Dating reads like a well-crafted sermon, communicating powerfully God’s passion for his church and effectively inviting the reader to embrace that same passion through commitment to a local congregation. Among the captivating stories that knit the book together, the most impressive is Harris’ own recent journey. Initially indifferent towards local church commitment, he rode the conference circuit on the popularity of his books on dating and courtship. Now, Harris serves as senior pastor of a congregation entrusted to him by his predecessor, C.J. Mahaney."

Why I Love My Pastor #24

Pastor Micah is such an amazing man of God and i'm blessed to have him as my pastor. It's evident that he has a heart for youth and is passionate about seeing them come to Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. He's truly been an encouragement to me and to others in the church, which is why I'm thankful for his influence on my life and the example he sets as someone who brings glory to the Lord. What a blessing he's been to this ministry.. Pastor Micah, we appreciate you!!! - Ceres

Why I Love My Pastor #23

I love Pastor Wes because through everything he never ceases to be there for his church members. Actually, anyone that crosses his path Wes is there for them. He's kind, funny, and has been like my earthly father since my birth father passed away. He cares for everyone and he is such a Godly and loving man. He's understanding as well. I praise God daily for this man who strives to be and is Christ-like. - Lynnea

Why I Love My Pastor #22

While he and his wife raise their nine children (and counting), Pastor Barry has still found time to plant and passionately lead our church. He's spent years telling those of us in the church and anyone else who would listen that the Church is the hope of the world. It is God's non-optional "plan A" for us, and there is no "plan B". And the church God is building through us makes us believe it. Thank you Pastor Barry! - Aaron

Why I Love My Pastor #21

I just wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate our pastor who dedicates 99.9% percent his time to a collegate ministy. Being on a college campus part of our gaol is help students understand the purpose of the church. - Victoria

His personality and relational style are a blessing and he is well-appreciated! -Russ

Why I Love My Pastor #19

For the past thirty years, Pastor Bill has served as a shepherd for our church. His leadership style is one of quiet humbleness, a willingness to listen and a true and honest love for the individuals of his congregation. No problem is too small, and no person too insignificant. His love is obvious for the people of this community, and one only needs to speak with him a few minutes to see that this love comes as a direct result of his absolute love for his Savior. He is an example to us all of
a true man of God, and truly the finest pastor I know. -Karen

Why I Love My Pastor #18

My pastor Jamey has been an encouragement to me and so many people. He has taught me to love the church, its purposes and embracing it as God’s plan for glory on the earth. He is a man of integrity, character, faith, humility, life, love and passion. He’s been like a father to me, and I hope and pray that someday I would be as good and loving of a pastor as he. -Brad

Why I Love My Pastor #17

I love my Pastor, first of all because he is my Dad but I love him also for sharing the Bible with me and being a good Pastor. -Joanna

Why I Love My Pastor #16

Pastor Bill has been such a blessing to our church in the past four years. We look forward to having he and his family with us for a long time. -Gretchen

Why I Love My Pastor #15

I am so thankful to God for Habib. He is gift from God to our church as well as my life! Habib is a man of God who genuinely loves God with everything that he has inside him. He is incredibly on fire for God. I would say that WORSHIP is the theme of his life, and this is reflected in the way he treats others. His love for people really reflects the love of Jesus. I have heard so many people say that they are thankful for Habib's solid biblical teaching and that we are so blessed to have such a pastor. His heart breaks for people that don't know God and his mission is that the gospel reach the ends of the earth. He is also the pastor of our Youth Group and he is completely devoted to this ministry. Praise God for this man, God's anointing is upon him!

Why I Love My Pastor #14

I am tremendously blessed to have a Pastor that fears, respects and loves God. Pastor Randy truly embodies what the Lord had in mind when creating the position of a Pastor. He has been my father, brother and friend in the last 8 years that I have known him. He sacrifices his time and energy into the spiritual health of each member of his church. He is a man with great vision and a big heart.

Before becoming my senior Pastor, Pastor Randy was my youth Pastor. He has invested in me since I was 14 years old. He has taught me to honor God, to put God first, and most importantly, in difficult times he has always reminded me of God’s mercy and grace.

I love him for all that he has done, for the example he is to me, and because his love for me is evident. - Leslie

Why I Love My Pastor #13

Pastor Gary is such a humble man and I have so appreciated being a active member of our church. He has been through many tests and trials and has proved himself to be faithful. -Lyn

Why I Love My Pastor #12

Pastor Brad is an excellent pastor. He is always trying to encourage us in our walk with God and others who have not yet started their walk. -Melanie

Why I Love My Pastor #11

A small group of believers planted a church a little over a year ago. We wanted a church that placed the Word of God central in everything it did. Tracy has been leading us in this endeavor by the use of expository preaching and teaching of the Scriptures and adherence to sound doctrines. I have known Tracy for about four years now, and he has never given me cause to doubt his sincere love for Jesus Christ and the people God has given him to shepherd. Our church as well has grown tremendously during this last year. The people have such a hunger for more of God's Word since Tracy has placed it in the forefront of our worship. I thank God that He gave us a pastor such as Tracy. I love Tracy greatly and look forward to one day serving alongside him. -Robert

Why I Love My Pastor #10

My father is not only a full-time pastor, but he also works full-time. Sometimes I wonder how he does it all. I know it's only by the grace of God. He makes time to visit sick church members, visit people in nursing homes, go on visitation, prepare his sermons, pray to God, run his business, devote time with his family, be a handy man around the house, and many other things. He is an extraordinary man who has been greatly used by the Lord. He has a willing heart, and a joyful spirit. I love him with all of my heart, and I'm proud to be called his daughter. - Jennifer

Why I Love My Pastor #9

I could place his credentials and achievements on a scale and let people measure him by what he has done and what he has accomplished, but I could never place his medals
above his humility. Our pastor does not only serve publicly, but quietly, in the secret far from people's view. My congregation appreciates his servant and gentle yet diligent attitude in his ministries. His humble character positions him as a servant to our members, always encouraging, gentle, yet honest, which leads others to follow his example. He is always encouraging people in their personal ministries and is actively involved with our church vision. He works diligently in his ministries and never complains upon taking up responsibilities that are lacking in workers. Lastly, when it comes to preaching God's Word, he is honest and even at times vulnerable in admitting his weaknesses along his journey to further relate and encourage the congregation. - Marchesa

Why I Love My Pastor #8

Pastor Scott is the most people-loving pastor we have ever known. These last six years at our church have been marked by kindness, understanding and support toward our children and us. Our teenagers respect and love our pastor as if he were a family member. They will never forget the birthday cards, hugs and even random notes of encouragement they have received from their pastor over the years. Pastor Scott leads by example, sowing much love into our family and into multitudes of other families in our church as well. - Vivian and Gary

Why I Love My Pastor #7

Andy is just amazing. His knowledge and ability to reach me on such a personal level is truly a gift from GOD. Andy is just a wonderful example of a person who glorifies GOD in all that he does and has the ability to influence others. I have learned so much from him and all his teachings and he really is just amazing. - Andrew

Why I Love My Pastor #6

Pastor Mike is a lover of Jesus which overflows and becomes a love for others. He encourages us to form small groups and relationships to encourage one another and protect ourselves and our relationships. - Kevin

Why I Love My Pastor #5

Our three Pastors are truly amazing! One thing I appreciate and admire about them is their constant focus on sticking to the true Word of God. Their vision to see the youth and next generation become Godly men and women with a passion for God is truly evident. They are always there to support us, generate ideas, and help us. We are all very blessed by them and their willingness to always come up with new ideas on how to intimately draw closer to God as well as serve others. They each have such a unique servant’s heart. Thank you all so much for being such Godly Pastors! - Sarah

Why I Love My Pastor #4

During the initial stages of the building process, when I think of Gary as pastor, I think of a man who was willing to get up in the early hours of the morning and face the cold torrential downpours (a regular occurrence in winter) to fix and secure the roof of the new building or to make sure everything was alright with it, all for the sake of the church. One of the most important things he has taught the church is commitment in our relationship with God, to the body of Christ and to the lost.
- Saila

Why I Love My Pastor #3

I love my pastor's sincere efforts to always advise and counsel me. Ever since walking through the churchs door I have been welcomed by pastor Greg. It is Greg's continued fellowship, guidance, patience and ministry that keeps me alive in the spirit and sets an excellent example to not only myself, his seven children, but also our entire church! He truly is a saint to be recognized! - Chrissy

Why I Love My Pastor #2

My pastor is an awesome man of God, who has a heart to see the body of Christ live this life the way God intended for us to live it. He teaches the word of God exactly for what it is...THE WORD OF GOD, not adding to it or taking anything away from it. He has a way of grasping you with the Word so that you can apply it to your lifestyle. I appreciate and respect a man who stands boldly everytime he ministers, not worried about what the people might say, and tells the truth. How many people can God trust to do that? Many come to the church but they are not connected with the church, the vision, or the Pastor. Since I have been under the leadership of Pastor Jacko, I can truley say that my life has been changed for the better and there are many others at my church who can say the same.

I Voted

I went out and did my civic duty today and voted. It was great to see so many people there. Four years ago you walked in and voted immediately. This year there was a 25 minute wait. As I stood in line I was stirred at the great privilege it is to be an American and have the opportunity to vote.

This Sunday we finish a series at church entitled "The Cross and the Culture War." Our goal was to point our church to the priority of rising above partisan politics and recognizing that the real culture war isn't Republican vs. Democrat but the Kingdom of God vs. godless humanity and our goal isn't to win an election but to spread the gospel.

Here's a terrific quote from my friend Randy Alcorn from his website www.epm.org.

"I get tired of being told I have to choose between conservatism's emphasis on truth and liberalism's emphasis on compassion. Why can't we oppose injustice to minorities and to the unborn? Why can't we embrace biblical stewardship of creation and the primacy of human beings over the rest of creation? Why can't we oppose the greedy destruction of the environment by some businesses and the anti-industry excesses of New Age environmentalism?
Why can't we affirm the biblical right to the ownership of property (along with the command “thou shalt not steal”) and emphasize God’s call to his people to voluntarily and sacrificially share their wealth with the truly needy?
Why can't we uphold the truth of God's condemnation of sexual immorality, including homosexual practices, and reach out in love and compassion to those imprisoned in this degrading lifestyle, as well as those dying from AIDS?
The answer is, we cannot do all these things if we are first and foremost either liberals or conservatives. We can do all these things only if we are first and foremost followers of Christ. We can do them if and only if we are governed not by temporal political affiliations, but by eternal allegiance to Almighty God."

And here's a great quote from author and pastor Erwin Lutzer in his book "Why the Cross Can Do what Politics Can't." He writes:

"The cross must always stand alone, unopposed by competing loyalties. Its message must never be sacrificed on the altar of our own political or social agenda, or affected by which political party is in office. We have a message that must be heard above the din of political posturing and rancor. We have an agenda that is even more important than saving America: it is holding the cross high so that God might be pleased to save Americans."

Amen!

Slicing My Thumb

I had no idea how much I used my thumb.

Yesterday while making a bow and arrow for my daughter I sliced into my thumb on my left hand. What an idiot I am! The knife cut about half an inch in, right through the nail. Yuck.

So I drove myself to the emergency room and got four stitches.

You may have noticed that we turned off the comments feature of the blog. Sorry if you're disappointed. I just don't have enough time to keep up with these and yet I feel responsible for what people read on my blog. Since there are times when people post things I don't agree with and I can't fully engage them it's easier to just turn it off. I don't mind people disagreeing with me and even hating me (I'm used to that) and they're free to do this on the rest of the internet!
